The City of Lloydminster said it received notification from the Saskatchewan Water Security Agency confirming water quality testing shows the drinking water supply is now safe to consume.

Residents are being advised to flush their systems before resuming normal use of tap water. The city recommends running cold water faucets and drinking fountains for at least one minute, draining and flushing refrigerator ice-making systems, backwashing pool filters and changing the water, regenerating water softeners and draining and refilling hot water heaters set below 45 C.

City staff have completed delivering notices to residents and businesses impacted by the advisory.

The advisory was issued following a municipal water-main break along 41 Street in southeast Lloydminster on May 9. The break caused temporary disruptions to water service for several homes and businesses and prompted the drinking water advisory.

During the outage, the city said efforts were made to contact affected residents and businesses, while a non-potable water station was established to support urgent needs.
