Police say investigators obtained surveillance footage showing Melissa Kohle-Derkachenko at the Walmart on Carlton Trail in North Battleford on the morning of April 5. RCMP said she was wearing a black jacket, blue-and-green plaid pants, black boots and glasses.
Investigators released the footage in hopes the public can help establish a clearer timeline of Kohle-Derkachenko’s movements before her death.
RCMP are asking anyone who saw or had contact with Kohle-Derkachenko in early April to contact police. Investigators are also seeking information about suspicious activity in the 20 St. West area of Battleford over the Easter weekend.
“Any information — no matter how small it may seem — can be vital to advancing an investigation,” RCMP said in a release.
Battlefords RCMP were called to a residence on 20 St. West in Battleford at 2:45 p.m. on April 8 after receiving a report of a deceased woman. Officers secured the scene and later identified the victim as Kohle-Derkachenko. Her family has been notified.
The death was initially deemed suspicious before Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit took over the case.
Police continue to ask residents in the 20 St. West area to review home security and doorbell camera footage recorded between April 1 and April 8 for anything suspicious.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Saskatchewan RCMP by calling 310-RCMP or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
