Battlefords RCMP responded to a report of a firearm being discharged on 8th Avenue North at about 8 p.m. on Friday, June 26.
Investigators say a man was walking his dog when a truck carrying multiple occupants approached him. The individuals inside the vehicle allegedly uttered threats and fired a gun, striking the dog, before fleeing the scene.
The dog died at the scene. The owner was not physically injured, police said.
Shortly after the shooting, officers tracked the suspect vehicle to a home on 110 St. Three men were arrested after exiting the residence, while a woman who fled on foot was also taken into custody. One of the men was later released without charges.
RCMP, alongside the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team, executed a search warrant at the home and seized two firearms.
