Battlefords RCMP responded to more than 60 calls for service during a 12-hour window overnight, including two serious assaults that sent three people to hospital, police say.

The busy stretch between 6 p.m. on July 29 and 6 a.m. on July 30 marked one of the highest call volumes the detachment has faced so far this summer.
The first major incident occurred at about 11 p.m. on July 29, when officers were called to a residence on the Sweetgrass First Nation following a report of a serious assault.
Two adult men were taken to hospital with serious injuries. Mounties launched a search for the suspects, using a drone to assist from the air. Anyone with information is asked to call 310-RCMP or contact Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
Hours later, around 4 a.m. on July 30, officers responded to another serious assault at a park in North Battleford. A woman was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and police arrested a suspect at the scene. Her identity has not been released as formal charges have not yet been laid.
Aside from the two major incidents, officers handled a wide range of calls, including:
- four additional reports of assaults or assaults with weapons;
- three stolen vehicle reports;
- 17 complaints of mischief and disturbing the peace; and
- one missing person case, which ended safely when the individual was located.
Police also executed warrants to arrest two wanted individuals.
“The Battlefords RCMP Detachment is one of the busiest in the province – and last night was one of the busiest nights so far this summer,” Staff Sgt. Bryce Pender said in a statement.
“From our dispatchers at the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Operational Communications Centre to our frontline officers to our specialized policing services, we are working together to keep the Battlefords area safe 24/7.”
