Saskatchewan’s photo speed enforcement program will resume operations next month with a new vendor following a competitive procurement process, SGI announced.

Global Traffic Group Ltd. will take over operations in August. While the program’s footprint and rules remain unchanged, drivers will notice physical changes on the roads as existing camera boxes are retired and replaced with pole-mounted equipment.
SGI noted that photo speed enforcement will continue to operate under the same framework as before. Equipment will remain limited to previously approved zones, clear signage will identify the enforced areas and fine amounts will stay the same. There may be minor adjustments to exact pole placements within existing zones, but no new locations are being added as part of the transition.
The automated speed enforcement program aims to reduce speeds in high-risk locations and eliminate traffic collisions, injuries and fatalities.
While the new equipment is being installed, police officers will maintain speed limit enforcement across the province. The vendor transition has not impacted photo speed enforcement in highway work zones, where cameras have remained fully operational.
