Lloydminster Fire Rescue is inviting area residents to get hands-on with fire safety at its annual Fire Prevention Week Open House next month.

The free event runs Thursday, Oct. 1, from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Fire Station #2, located at 2706 59 Ave.
This year’s public safety campaign focuses on battery and charging safety, offering practical advice on how to safely power, use, and store everyday electronic devices.
“Fire Prevention Week is a great chance to welcome residents into the fire station, have some fun and talk about simple ways we can all help prevent fires,” assistant Fire Chief Chad Penner said.
“We use battery-powered devices every day, often without giving them much thought. This year’s focus is a good reminder that a few simple charging habits can make a real difference in keeping our homes and families safe.”
Visitors can learn to recognize potential battery hazards, choose appropriate charging cables, and reduce residential fire risks.
Family-friendly activities scheduled for the afternoon include:
- Bouncy castles and station tours
- Hands-on fire extinguisher practice and fire hose target shooting
- A visit from Sparky the Fire Dog
