The planned exercise will involve an increased presence of emergency vehicles and first responders in the area, including members of the RCMP, Lloydminster Fire Rescue and emergency medical services. Emergency lights and sirens will be used during the drill.

City officials emphasized that the exercise is purely a training scenario, there is no active emergency, and no action is required from the public.

Drivers are reminded to follow standard traffic rules and safely pull to the right for any emergency vehicles using lights and sirens.

Under Transport Canada regulations, airports are required to conduct a full-scale emergency exercise every four years to allow airport personnel and local emergency responders to test and co-ordinate their response procedures.
