Onion Lake RCMP arrest three after firearm discharged from vehicle

Three adult males have been arrested by Onion Lake RCMP following a discharge of a firearm from a car.

On April 7, RCMP received a report of a male with a firearm in a vehicle. The vehicle was described as a car and it was last seen in Onion Lake. Officers began their search for the car.

While patrolling, RCMP received a report of a firearm discharged from a car I the Maidstone RCMP detachment area. No injuries were reported to police.

The car described in the report matched the car Onion Lake RCMP were looking for. The car was last seen on Highway 3 near Frenchman Butte. Both Maidstone and Onion Lake RCMP responded.

Onion Lake RCMP located a car matching the suspect vehicle’s description driving at a high rate of speed on Highway 797 between Onion Lake and Frenchman Butte. Multiple attempts were made to stop the vehicle, including initiating a traffic stop. The car did not stop.

The car later came to a stop on the side of RC Road in Onion Lake. Three adult men were arrested. During a search of the car, police located and seize a firearm and ammunition.

As a result of continued investigation, 44-year-old Brooks Dillon, 24-year-old Marcus Dillon, and 30-year-old Nathan Dillon, all from Onion Lake, are each charged with:

  • one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized, Section 92(1), Criminal Code;
  • two counts, careless use of a firearm, Section 86(1), Criminal Code;
  • two counts, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code; and
  • two counts, possession of a firearm/weapon/device/ammunition in motor vehicle, Section 94(1), Criminal Code.

Marcus Dillon is additionally charged with:

  • one count, flight from peace officer, Section 320.17, Criminal Code; and
  • one count, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, Section 320.13(1), Criminal Code.
