Hosted via Zoom on May 12, the Source took home hardware in multiple categories.
The annual awards showcase the best weekly newspapers of all sizes across the province.
We are proud to say the Source won double gold in the Best Overall Paper for circulation over 6,500 and Best Editorial Page for circulation over 6,500 categories. We also won bronze for Best Front Page.
These awards are a testament to our team effort in producing the best newspaper we can, week after week.
In the Best Sports Story of the Year category, sports editor John MacNeil won gold and silver for his coverage of Western Hockey League prospect Tripp Fischer and Kevin Payne’s induction into the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame.
John also took bronze in the Best Saskatchewan Recreational Story category for coverage of Aubree Sunderland’s Canada Summer Games experience.
In the photography categories, I’m pleased to report I took bronze in the Best Photo Essay of the Year category for coverage of the annual Lori Craven Memorial baseball tournament.
My goose photo that won gold in the Alberta contest garnered bronze for Best Wildlife Photo, and a photo from Spandex Nation’s show at the Lloyd Ex Fair won silver for Best Black and White Photo.
We’re still waiting for the results of the Alberta Weekly Newspaper Association’s writing and general excellence awards, but know I’ll be sharing the results here. Have a great week, Lloydminster!
