Heavy equipment is rolling into downtown Lloydminster as crews enter the next phase of the Central Business District: Phase 1B construction project on 50 St.

Following months of summer work replacing underground utilities and clearing surface infrastructure, crews are moving into granular mass hauling operations to rebuild the roadway foundation.
Work completed on the site to date includes:
- Roadway demolition and sidewalk removal
- Full replacement of sanitary sewer, water main and stormwater infrastructure
- Installation of individual lot servicing
- Roadway backfill operations
Over the coming weeks, residents and local visitors will see a notable increase in gravel truck traffic moving through the downtown core. The City of Lloydminster advises that truck movements into and out of the construction zone may cause periodic traffic slowdowns and minor delays.
Motorists are asked to allow extra travel time, plan routes in advance and use caution when navigating near active construction vehicles and heavy equipment.
City officials noted the shift to aggregate hauling marks a major milestone toward the overall completion of the 50 St. revitalization, acknowledging the continued patience of downtown business owners and community members throughout the project.
