Margaret Mary Dunham
January 17, 1931 – February 5, 2023
Margaret (Marg) Dunham passed away peacefully on Sunday February 5 at age 92 with her loving husband Bob and family by her side. Marg and Bob, or Nana and Papa as they were affectionately known to family and friends, were life long partners who were married for 67 years. It was rare that they were ever apart. Marg married Bob Dunham on June 18, 1955 in Vancouver and together they raised three daughters – Donna, Cathy and Maureen and two sons Rob and Dan. As a member of the RCMP, Bob had to move his family frequently and Marg had her hands full taking care of five children while being transferred 10 times in just over 20 years before settling in Lloydminster.
Born and raised in Regina, Marg was predeceased by her father Lawrence and mother Annie Birkett and her brothers Bill and Jack. Marg is survived by her 5 children: Donna (John) Alport of Regina; Cathy (Ron) Robison of Calgary; Rob (Jackie) Dunham of Lloydminster; Dan (Pam) Dunham of Lloydminster and Maureen (Mike) Babcock of Brighton, Michigan. Fifteen grandchildren Katherine (Levi) Wood:; Annie Alport:; David (Gabi) Alport; Jill Alport; Kristy Lowes; Jill Frickey; Casey Robison; Rebecca Robison; Mackenzie Dunham; Jacob Dunham; Madison Dunham; Joshua Dunham; Alexandra Babcock; Michael Babcock; Taylor Babcock and eight great grandchildren Riley and Kennedy Wood; Finley and Ayla Clutton; Bishop and Hugh Alport; Carter and Lila Frickey.
As Nana to her many grandchildren and great grandchildren she was deeply admired and respected by her entire family. Marg was a very spiritual individual who was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League. Marg loved having coffee and special birthday lunches with her close girlfriends in Lloydminster over the years. Marg and Bob travelled the world with the Lloydminster Neversweats Oldtimers hockey team making great friends and sharing wonderful memories. Marg loved to read and was a very strong and resilient person having raised a large family while moving almost every other year when the kids were young. Marg remained active by walking and doing water aerobics. Her most favourite memories were spending time with Bob and the family at the cabin at Lac Des Iles and hosting the legendary Dunham Christmases.
Marg’s funeral service took place at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lloydminster on Thursday February 9 at 2:00 pm. In memory of Marg, donations may be made to the Sisters of Precious Blood, 2715 Erlton Street, SW, Calgary, AB T2S 2W4 or one of donor’s choice.
