This year’s 4-H Expo has come and gone, leaving the results to report.
The event, held at the Lloyd Ex on June 4, marked 106 years of 4-H in Saskatchewan and Alberta and was a very successful event by all accounts.
Clubs from Lloydminster and surrounding areas came together to compete against one another and to exhibit their achievements and skills.
Participating projects included: cow/calf, heifer, fed calf, light horse, multi projects, bench projects, sheep, archery, and canine.
The expo concluded with a fed calf and market lamb sale with a fed calf average of $3.90 per pound on 100 head. The lamb average was $649 on 37 market lambs.
The winner of the grand champion fed calf went to Keylen Eaton with the reserve champion fed calf going to Isabelle Pratte.
The grand champion ewe was claimed by Georgia Spurrell and the reserve champion ewe went to Kaci Carlson.
The grand champion market lamb went to Briar Blanchette and the reserve champion market lamb went to Briggs Blanchette.
The expo thanks the following buyers who purchased respective projects: grand champion fed calf, Titan Livestock; reserve champion fed calf, Twin Lakes Land & Cattle; grand champion market lamb, Beaver Hill Auction Services Ltd. and reserve champion market lamb, TJF Farm & Transport.
Three market lambs were also donated by their buyers to local non-profit charities. Northern Livestock Sales donated a lamb to The Olive Tree and the Lloydminster Men’s Shelter.
