Children affected by traumatic events, including vehicle collisions, house fires and medical emergencies, will have a better sense of security thanks to a donation by Northern Factory Workwear.
The Lloydminster Fire Department (LFD) recently received a donation of 450 plush teddies from the locally-owned retailer. The bears will provide comfort and solace to local kids.
These “Trauma Teddy,” will serve as faithful companions and provide a sense of security and reassurance to children in distress.
“As a family business, we firmly believe in the power of community support,” said Pam and Neal Beznoska, owners, Northern Factory Workwear.
“Through initiatives like donating trauma teddies, we can provide comfort and solace to children during difficult times, and create a stronger, more compassionate community that fosters resilience and supports one another through difficult times.”
Firefighters will be equipped with these bears, enabling them to offer immediate comfort to children involved in accidents or other traumatic incidents.
“As first responders, we understand the profound impact traumatic incidents can have on young children. Witnessing or experiencing such events can be deeply distressing, leaving lasting emotional scars,” said LFD assistant fire chief Bill Heesing.
“We recognize the importance of initiatives that help children cope with trauma and build resilience. Through collaborations like the one with Northern Factory Workwear, we can create a support system that aids in the healing process and shows children that they’re not alone in their time of need.”
These bears will not only bring smiles to their faces but also serve as a bridge to establishing trust and building positive relationships between the Lloydminster Fire Department and the young ones the department aims to help and protect.
