The Town of Bonnyville has voted to become a sponsor of the Night at the Gatsby Fundraising Gala.
Council heard the presentation at the Sept. 10 regular council meeting.
This year proceeds from the gala go to supporting the local food bank. This program provides 7 local schools with lunch items for those children who would otherwise go without. The average number of youths that access the Friends for Lunch program is roughly 40 per school.
In previous years, included in the 2024 operating budget, council purchased a table for $350 to attend the event.
This year the request from administration was to sponsor the event at the bronze level costing $1,500.
“For me, little bit of a tough one we only put $350 in the budget for a table,” said Deputy Mayor Byron Johnston. “The table prices I did see went up to 550 for this year.”
After further discussion council voted in favour of becoming a bronze sponsor for the gala.
