The proposed expansion of the Lloydminster Men’s Shelter is on hold, pending an independent review.
That is according to Kagan Kneen, director of the Men’s Shelter.
“The current proposal was denied by the city,” stated Kneen late Friday afternoon. “We do plan to appeal and that will be held on Oct. 23 at City Hall.”
The review board is the next step for the appeals process. During a recent meeting between staff and concerned citizens at city hall, it was confirmed they have overturned decisions in the past. One such time was regarding a warming shelter in the area.
Residents within 150 meters of the current facility will receive another set of letters acknowledging the start of the appeal process.
The Meridian Source will continue to update this story as more details become available.
