RCMP charge two from Lloyd with weapons offences

On Jan. 11 at about 11:19 a.m., Kitscoty RCMP responded to a robbery involving a firearm at a residence on Range Road 34 in the County of Vermilion River.

Investigators found that three people driving a stolen vehicle broke into the home and took firearms. While there, a third party arrived. One suspect pointed a firearm at them and stole their vehicle. The stolen vehicle had GPS tracking, leading police to a home in Lloydminster, Alta., where two suspects were arrested.

“This incident was interrupted by an innocent property owner. The accused could have easily driven away but instead they decided to bring firearms into the equation, turning a property crime into a very serious and traumatizing offence that is not common to this area” said Cpl. Brian Weisbrod , Operations NCO, Kitscoty RCMP.

He continued,

“We would like extend our gratitude to the Eastern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit, the Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Team, along with neighbouring RCMP detachments including Lloydminster and Maidstone for their invaluable assistance in this investigation. Their support and collaboration were instrumental in bringing these suspects to justice.”
