Alberta’s Minor Hockey Week is more than a competition for the Lloydminster Minor Hockey Association (LMHA). It’s a celebration.
“For the LMHA, this week is more than just about competition; it’s a celebration of the sport and the role it plays in the community,” said Dan Auchenburg, LMHA’s general manager. “The week provides a platform for players to showcase their skills and development.”
The association recently celebrated Minor Hockey Week in Alberta. The week highlights the importance of youth hockey across the province. Additionally, communities gather to celebrate teamwork, skill, and dedication.
Meanwhile, Auchenburg stressed the event’s impact on Lloydminster.
“Minor Hockey Week helps foster a strong sense of community within Lloydminster, bringing together players, coaches, parents, and volunteers. It’s a chance for the entire community to rally behind the youth hockey teams, building pride and camaraderie,” stated Auchenburg.
He noted Players also benefit from the exposure and experience the week provides. It inspires them to be better at their sport and learn life lessons such as teamwork and perseverance. Meanwhile, the celebration goes beyond kids on the ice.
“(The) Week recognizes the hard work and dedication of the many volunteers, coaches, and administrators who make youth hockey possible in Lloydminster,” recognizes Auchenburg. “It’s a time to acknowledge their contributions to the success of the association”
Additionally, Social events and festivities contribute to the appeal helping build connections within Lloydminster.
“In addition to the games, there are often social events and other activities associated with Minor Hockey Week, making it a fun, exciting, and memorable time for players and families alike,” he said. “The event strengthens our ties as a community. It celebrates everything hockey gives to our youth and city.”
