Christian Heritage Party (CHP) candidate Mìcheal Speirs says his party offers a principled, practical path forward rooted in personal responsibility and limited government.

“We have a responsibility to be good stewards of the planet on which God has placed us,” said Speirs. “But many reputable scientists reject the theory that climate change is caused by human use of petroleum fuels.”

He said carbon dioxide is essential for plant growth and opposes policies that punish oil and gas producers.

The CHP would eliminate carbon taxes, cap-and-trade, and carbon credits.

Speirs supports creating an energy corridor to eastern Canada to deliver Alberta and Saskatchewan oil, gas, and electricity across the country.

“This would strengthen our energy sector, improve east-west relations, and keep more money in Canada,” said Speirs.

Business, agriculture and trade

Speirs emphasized a return to free enterprise to support small businesses still recovering from inflation and supply-chain disruptions.

“The most efficient engine of economic growth is individual initiative,” he said. “Government interference stifles innovation and burdens job creators.”

On agriculture, Speirs called for cutting red tape and reducing regulations.

“Farmers face excessive rules that even restrict selling products like unpasteurized milk,” he said. “Independent farm businesses are the backbone of our economy, and they need freedom, not more government.”

However, he also wants to reduce international trade barriers and excessive government spending that drives inflation and debt. He is concerned for future generations.

“The government either takes from taxpayers now or leaves the debt to our children,” he said.

Trade, inflation and healthcare

Meanwhile, Speirs sees immigration and foreign ownership as key factors behind high housing prices.

“CHP would restrict foreign purchases of homes, businesses, and farmland,” he said. “We’d also reduce both legal and illegal immigration to ease the pressure on housing.”

On healthcare, Speirs supports streamlining certification for foreign-trained doctors while maintaining high standards. He also backs private delivery options to reduce wait times.

Additionally, The CHP would rehire and compensate healthcare workers fired for refusing COVID-19 vaccinations.

“We’d defund abortion, assisted suicide (MAID), and gender reassignment surgeries and redirect those funds to real healthcare,” he said.

Meanwhile, on interprovincial coordination, Speirs noted Lloydminster’s success as a border city.

“If changes are needed, we’ll work with the mayor and citizens to ensure fairness across provincial lines,” he explained.

Speirs also emphasized respectful engagement with Indigenous communities as a CHP platform.

“Communication is key. We’d start by listening and seeking to understand the unique needs of local Indigenous populations,” he said, noting rural crime is another major concern.

He also stated ending the catch-and-release policy is necessary, as well as increased penalties for gun crimes and changing laws to better protect Canadians defending their property and families.

“Justice must be timely. The innocent deserve to be cleared quickly, and the guilty must be held accountable,” said Speirs, adding he believes his party offers something different.

“We are committed to moral government, fiscal responsibility, and personal freedom,” he said. “The Christian Heritage Party will stand for the values that built this country and offer real hope for its future.”
