The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is giving its front-line fleet a new look for the first time in more than three decades.

The national police force unveiled a redesigned appearance for its cruisers on July 20, transitioning to a classic black-and-white colour scheme featuring white doors on a black base.
The updated vehicles feature high-visibility, reflective graphics intended to make officers easily recognizable day or night across urban, rural and remote communities.
RCMP Commissioner Mike Duheme said the new look prioritizes public safety and visibility while connecting the modern fleet to the force’s historic identity. The black-and-white aesthetic draws inspiration from earlier patrol vehicles used in previous decades.
The redesigned cruisers will begin appearing on Canadian roads later this summer. The fleet update will occur gradually as older vehicles reach replacement criteria to ensure a cost-effective rollout without service disruptions.
Provinces, territories and municipalities served by the RCMP will have the option to include local identifiers on the vehicles. Both current and redesigned cruisers will operate side-by-side during the transition period.
