As I haven’t done this in some time, here’s a snapshot of calls for service and proactive files over a recent 30-day period.

A total of 62 calls were made to 911, ranging from pocket dials to active incidents requiring police response. Many required multiple emergency services, including ambulance, fire and police. Injury collisions typically involve all three.
Police received 37 assault reports, six of which were related to family violence. Family violence involves people within a family, including intimate partners, while domestic violence refers specifically to violence between intimate partners.
There were 14 “assist general public” calls — a broad category that can include non-criminal matters such as a child locked in a vehicle.
Officers handled 12 criminal harassment and 13 harassing communications complaints. These involve behaviour that causes someone to fear for their safety, often resembling stalking. Harassing communications occur through calls or messages.
There were 26 disturbing-the-peace calls, involving behaviour in public that reaches a criminal level.
Police also received 13 reports of failing to remain at the scene of a collision (hit and run). Drivers are legally required to remain on scene and exchange information.
There were 27 false alarms, a number that continues to decline.
In addition, 67 files involved failing to attend court or comply with release conditions. When an accused is released on conditions — including attending court — failure to comply can result in charges or an arrest warrant.
Mental health was the primary factor in 37 investigations during this period. These ranged from concerning comments about self-harm to apprehensions under mental health legislation for assessment.
