The land use bylaw (LUB) and municipal development plan (MDP) will be defeated at the next council meeting.

The county made the announcement in a June 18 news release.

The current bylaws will remain in place following the bylaws being defeated.

The county hosted a second public hearing on the matter on June 11 where residents came out to voice their staunch opposition to the matter. Residents at the public hearing spoke on a number of issues including government overreach and the loss of freedom on their own properties.

During the meeting, Reeve Marty Baker spoke to the cost of the project.

“We are close to about $100,000 on this project and it has all been funded by the provincial government thus far,” he said.

The bylaws will be brought forward for second reading at the June 24 meeting where it will be defeated.
