Residential street sweeping is scheduled to begin Monday, May 11, weather permitting. The city says crews will follow curbside collection zones, starting with the green zone before moving through pink, blue, orange and yellow areas.
The annual program removes dust and debris from roads, boulevards and pathways to improve safety and reduce material entering the stormwater system.
Residents are being asked to avoid parking on streets when sweepers are operating in their neighbourhoods. The city said signs will be posted at least 36 hours in advance to notify residents of scheduled sweeping.
If signs remain in place over a weekend, on-street parking will still be allowed until operations resume Monday morning.
To help crews work more efficiently, residents are also encouraged to place waste and organics carts out after 7 p.m. the evening before pickup and remove them by 7 p.m. on collection day.
Street sweeping in residential areas is expected to run from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, weather permitting. Weekly operations pause Fridays at 6 a.m. for equipment maintenance before resuming Mondays.
The city is reminding motorists to slow down around street sweepers and maintain at least eight metres of distance from equipment.
Residents can track street sweeping progress and schedules through the city’s roads webpage or by calling 780-874-3700.
