Tommy Moose’s mission as a toy is simple: bring calm to children in stressful and anxiety-filled situations.
The Lloydminster Moose Lodge donated cases of Tommy Moose stuffed toys to two deserving organizations on Mar. 3. The Legacy Regional Fire Department and Lloydminster Sexual Assault Services came away with new toys.

Legacy Regional Fire Chief, Dean Peters, said the toys make a difference at roadside collisions. Meanwhile, the department is grateful for the donation. Firefighters will give Tommy Moose to kids in those situations throughout the region.

“We really appreciate the help, these really help a scared kid who doesn’t know what’s going on,” said Peters. “A doll, after a traumatic incident has a very immediate and positive impact.”
Meanwhile, helping promote children’s wellbeing is the main goal of the program. It is also a key mission of the Moose Lodge.
“It is part of our purpose, we’re an organization that was instituted to help children, families and the community,” said Lodge administrator Susan Colp. “Giving these toys is part of that.”
Furthermore, funds raised through events like bingo helped purchase 100 Tommy Moose toys. Additionally, the Lodge is distributing them throughout the community.

Emma McAdam, the volunteer and administrative coordinator for the Sexual Assault Centre, said they love giving the toys to children who visit their facility.
“It’s awesome because we do have a lot of children come to our centre,” said McAdam. “It’s nice for them when they have come and finished their interview or come and do their sessions and we can give them a little gift to take home with them, it just makes it easier on the kids.”
Those who could use a donation of Tommy Moose toys can contact the Lodge for more information.
